Michigan insurance companies contact: private payer provider numbers
Call the provider services number, not the member line. Each row below shows the number, what it is for and the insurer page it came from. If a payer has no behavioral health number listed, use the number on the member ID card.

Michigan Medicaid provider enrollment
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) runs Michigan Medicaid, and providers enroll through the CHAMPS system. Use the MDHHS CHAMPS provider support page for the current help line. Many members are in Medicaid health plans, so confirm the plan before you call. Checked October 2026.
Michigan Medicare: who processes your Part B claims
Michigan Medicare Part B claims go to one Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC). Wisconsin Physicians Service (WPS) is the MAC for Jurisdiction 8, which covers Michigan and Indiana. Medicare Advantage plans are private plans, so call the number on the member card for those. Medicare, Medicaid and private payers follow different rules.

What to have ready before you call a Michigan insurer
A short, prepared call is faster than a long one. Keep these in front of you before you dial any Michigan insurance companies contact number:
- The patient’s name as it appears on the card, date of birth and address.
- Your individual NPI (National Provider Identifier) and your tax ID.
- The date of service, the CPT code and the total billed amount. See the non-E/M CPT guide and the E/M CPT guide for psychiatrists.
- The claim number from the payer portal, if you have one.
- Michigan BCBSM and Blue Care Network share one provider inquiry number, but behavioral health authorization numbers differ by plan, so know whether the member is BCBSM PPO, Blue Care Network HMO or Medicare Plus Blue.
- Michigan Medicaid members: confirm the Medicaid health plan in CHAMPS or with the patient, then call that plan’s provider line.
- Medicare Part B questions: have your NPI, PTAN and the last five digits of your tax ID ready.
Write down the name of the representative and a call reference number. Phone menus, holds and transfers can add up, and a dropped call means starting over. If you would rather not make these calls, MCM South does it for psychotherapists and psychiatrists.
