Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, now branded Blue Cross NC, is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. It is not Anthem (BCBSNC claims tips). Healthy Blue + Medicare in North Carolina is a separate product with its own payer ID and routing. Do not send those claims to Blue Cross NC.

The Blue Cross NC payer ID is 89070 (confirmed by MCM South, 10/1/26). Blue Cross NC also runs the Blue e portal (About Blue e). Filing limits are contract-specific. Blue Cross NC's provider guidance and its member FAQ give different time frames, so read your contract and the current provider manual.
Private payer: behavioral health
Blue Cross NC brought State Health Plan behavioral health case management and utilization review in-house on January 1, 2022, after using Beacon Health Options (Blue Cross NC notice). Confirm routing for other lines on the contact line above.
Private payer: credentialing
Register and attest in the CAQH Provider Data Portal, email your CAQH ID to , then register your NPI for claims and EFT. There is no separate behavioral health path (apply for credentialing).
Medicare
Blue Medicare HMO and PPO have their own claims address (PO Box 17509, Winston-Salem, NC 27116) and provider appeals (PO Box 1291, Durham). Blue Cross NC says it maintained its Medicare Advantage telehealth policy effective October 1, 2025, including behavioral health telehealth in the home. Do not apply it to commercial plans.
