New York Medicare: who processes your Part B claims
New York Medicare claims go to one Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC). National Government Services (NGS) is the MAC for New York. NGS began operating under the name Wellpoint Federal on April 1, 2026. CMS lists New York in Jurisdiction K on its CMS Jurisdiction K page (last modified July 8, 2026). Medicare Advantage plans from Aetna, Humana or UnitedHealthcare are private plans, so call the number on the member card for those. Medicare, Medicaid and private payers follow different rules. Phone numbers come from the CMS provider contact table, checked October 2026.

What to have ready before you call a New York insurer
A short, prepared call is faster than a long one. Keep these in front of you before you dial any New York insurance companies contact number:
- The patient’s name as it appears on the card, date of birth and address.
- Your individual NPI (National Provider Identifier) and your tax ID.
- The date of service, the CPT code and the total billed amount. See the non-E/M CPT guide and the E/M CPT guide for psychiatrists.
- The claim number from the payer portal, if you have one.
Write down the name of the representative and a call reference number. Phone menus, holds and transfers can add up, and a dropped call means starting over. If you would rather not make these calls, MCM South does it for psychotherapists and psychiatrists.
