Call the provider services number, not the member line. Each row below shows the number, what it is for and the insurer page it came from. If a payer has no behavioral health number listed, use the number on the member ID card.

New Jersey Medicaid provider enrollment
The New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS) runs NJ FamilyCare, the state Medicaid program, and Gainwell Technologies (NJMMIS) is the fiscal agent. Call Gainwell Provider Services at 800-776-6334 (listed on the DMAHS general information page) or use NJMMIS provider enrollment. Most members are in managed care plans, so confirm the plan before you call. Checked October 2026.
New Jersey Medicare: who processes your Part B claims
New Jersey Medicare Part B claims go to one Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC). Novitas Solutions is the MAC for Jurisdiction L, which includes New Jersey. Medicare Advantage plans are private plans, so call the number on the member card for those. Medicare, Medicaid and private payers follow different rules.

What to have ready before you call a New Jersey insurer
A short, prepared call is faster than a long one. Keep these in front of you before you dial any New Jersey insurance companies contact number:
- The patient’s name as it appears on the card, date of birth and address.
- Your individual NPI (National Provider Identifier) and your tax ID.
- The date of service, the CPT code and the total billed amount. See the non-E/M CPT guide and the E/M CPT guide for psychiatrists.
- The claim number from the payer portal, if you have one.
- New Jersey FamilyCare members: confirm eligibility and the assigned managed care plan first, then call the plan, not Gainwell, for plan claims and prior authorization.
- Medicare Part B questions: have your NPI, PTAN and the last five digits of your tax ID ready.
Write down the name of the representative and a call reference number. Phone menus, holds and transfers can add up, and a dropped call means starting over. If you would rather not make these calls, MCM South does it for psychotherapists and psychiatrists.
